QFX (Quicken Financial Exchange)
Also known as: Quicken Financial Exchange, Web Connect.
Definition
QFX, also called Web Connect, is Intuit's branded variant of OFX used to import transactions into Quicken. A QFX file is structurally an OFX file plus Intuit-specific identifiers (INTU.BID and INTU.USERID) that bind it to a known financial institution. Quicken accepts QFX as its standard one-way bank-to-Quicken import file.
Why it matters
Quicken users often cannot import a generic OFX file because Quicken validates the Intuit identifiers. QFX is the format that just works for Quicken Web Connect imports. Producing a valid QFX from a PDF bank statement is the difference between a clean import and an error dialog.
