Move Documents Between Projects

Move one or many documents from one project to another, including bulk selection and the right-click shortcut.

If you uploaded a document into the wrong project, or you want to consolidate work across projects, DocuClipper lets you move documents without re-uploading or losing extracted data.

You'll need Edit (Write) access on both the source project and the destination project.

Move a single document

  1. Open the source project from the sidebar.
  2. Right-click the document row.
  3. Choose Move to project.

Common errors

"You don't have permission to move documents from this project" — you need Write access on the source. Ask the folder owner or a contract admin to share it with your team or grant you Individual User Access. See Organize folders, projects, and sharing.

"You don't have permission to move documents to this project" — same as above, but for the destination project. You need Write there too.

"One or more documents are not in the source project" — the document was moved or deleted by another teammate while you had the row selected. Refresh the page and try again.

What happens to the data

Moving a document keeps:

  • All extracted transactions, invoices, or form fields
  • Templates and categorization rules already applied
  • Original PDF and download history

The document simply changes which project it belongs to.
