The Questions an Underwriter Asks, Answered From One Upload

A loan file or an investigation is a set of statements, not one PDF. DocuClipper extracts every transaction, then the Advanced Analysis and Fraud Detection tabs answer the questions you would otherwise work through with a highlighter and a calculator.

Did they send every month?

The Coverage grid lays out one row per account and one column per month. Missing months, and overlapping periods that point to a duplicate upload, are flagged.

Statement coverage

Does each statement add up?

Every statement is added up from its printed opening balance to its printed closing balance. In the last 30 days 90% of 150,409 balanced; the rest are flagged so nobody relies on them unchecked.

How the balance check works

Was the PDF edited?

Each PDF gets a 0 to 100 authenticity score from the balance math, its edit history and hidden metadata, its layout and any pasted-in amounts, with every signal listed.

Authenticity score

Which deposits repeat?

The Recurring tab groups weekly, biweekly and monthly patterns (payroll, benefits, rent, loan payments) with the typical amount, count, total and first and last date.

Recurring transactions

Is that deposit just their own transfer?

The Transfers tab pairs a debit in one account with the matching credit in another, so money moved between their own accounts isn't read as new income.

Transfers

How does cash move over time?

Cashflow Analysis charts the daily balance and income against expenses with net flow, for one account or all of them, and exports the summary to CSV.

Cashflow Analysis

Are there accounts they didn't hand over?

Account numbers named in transaction descriptions with no statement in the file appear as red "Referenced, not produced" rows on the Coverage grid.

Undisclosed accounts

Why Lenders and Investigators Use It

Built for files where the numbers have to hold up: credit decisions, fraud reviews and expert reports.

Catch Edited Statements

Altered statements usually break the balance math or leave editing traces in the PDF. Both are checked on every statement you open, not only the few a reviewer has time for.

No Templates to Build

Any bank's PDF, digital or scanned. There are no extraction zones to draw per bank and nothing to redo when a bank redesigns its statement.

Keep the Evidence

Every flag records the check that fired and its confidence, amount-level flags are pinned to the page, and the fraud report downloads as a CSV for the file.

Feed Your Own Model

Transactions export to Excel or CSV and the cash-flow summary to CSV, so the numbers go straight into your underwriting spreadsheet or case workpapers.

Whole Files, Not Single Statements

Built for a loan file or a case, not one PDF: 10,600+ uploads last month held three or more statements (median 8), and 3,800+ held twelve or more.

Unlimited Users

Underwriters, processors and reviewers work in the same projects on every plan, with no per-seat charge.

Analyze Bank Statements in 3 Steps

Upload · Analyze · Review

1

Upload the whole file

Drag in every statement for the borrower or subject: several months, several accounts, digital or scanned. Files are encrypted in transit (TLS), and DocuClipper is SOC 2 Type II audited.

2

Automated analysis in seconds

DocuClipper extracts the transactions, detects each account and statement period, and checks every period against the printed balances. Coverage, recurring, transfers and cash flow are one click away in Advanced Analysis.

3

Review the flags, export the file

Each flag says what was found and where. The score is a guide, not a verdict, so a reviewer confirms the flagged items, then exports transactions to Excel or CSV.

Fake Bank Statement Detector

Drop in a PDF and DocuClipper checks for the patterns fabricated statements share: math that doesn't add up, fonts that don't match the rest of the document, and PDF metadata that points to editing tools. Every flagged statement comes with the specific evidence so a reviewer can confirm in seconds.

1.49 million bank statements have been given an authenticity score since April 2025. For the checks a reviewer can run by hand, and how to verify a statement with the bank, see how to spot a fake bank statement.

  • Balance check: the transactions must add up from the opening to the closing balance; an inflated or inserted deposit usually breaks this math.
  • Pasted-in amounts: figures in a different font size from the rest of their row are flagged with the page and position.
  • PDF edit history: a PDF editor named in the file, changes after the bank created it, and hidden metadata that disagrees with the file.
  • Layout: compared with statements already known to be authentic.
  • Included in the 14-day free trial with no credit card; after that, part of the Business plan.

AI Bank Statement Analysis That Holds Up at Volume

Upload any bank or credit card statement, with no template to set up. DocuClipper reads the layout, detects each account and statement period, and extracts the transactions. What comes out is checked against the bank's own printed balances before you analyze it.

  • 122,000+ bank and credit card statements processed in the last 30 days, 6.4M+ to date.
  • 90% of 150,409 statements in those 30 days balanced to the printed opening and closing balance; every other one is flagged.
  • 5,100+ statements held more than one account, and each account was split out with its own periods.
  • Each fraud signal carries a confidence, and the authenticity score weights it accordingly.
Why no templates matters
Template-based tools
You draw extraction zones per bank layout and redo them whenever the bank redesigns its statement.
DocuClipper
No templates to build. Transactions, balance checks, fraud signals and cash-flow analysis come from the same upload.

Bank Statement Analysis Software FAQs

Software that turns a set of bank statement PDFs into transactions and then answers the questions a reviewer asks of them: are all months present, does each statement add up to its printed balances, was the PDF edited, which deposits repeat, which are transfers between the person's own accounts, and how cash moves over time. DocuClipper does all of that from one upload.
DocuClipper extracts every transaction, checks that each statement period adds up from the printed opening to the closing balance, inspects the PDF's metadata and edit history, compares the layout fingerprint with known-authentic statements, and looks for pasted-in amounts. Across a set of statements it also maps coverage by month, groups recurring transactions, pairs transfers between accounts and charts cash flow.
It depends on the product. Mortgage files commonly ask for the two most recent monthly statements per account, while business, SBA and alternative lenders commonly ask for three to twelve months. The Coverage grid shows at a glance whether the file has every month you asked for, per account.
No. It shows the evidence: recurring deposits with amounts and dates, income against expenses over time, and the transfers to leave out. The income figure and the decision follow your own underwriting policy; export the transactions to Excel to use them in your model.
Yes. DocuClipper is a web app, so there is nothing to install. Upload the statements, then open Advanced Analysis for coverage, recurring transactions, transfers and cash flow, and the Fraud Detection tab for the authenticity score.
ChatGPT can read the text of a statement, but it doesn't inspect the PDF file itself (producer, edit history, incremental saves) or check that every transaction adds up to the printed balances. DocuClipper does both and gives each statement a 0 to 100 authenticity score with the evidence behind it.
Look for balances that don't reconcile, a PDF modified after it was created or saved with incremental edits, an editing tool in the producer field, metadata that disagrees with itself, and amounts that look pasted in. DocuClipper runs those checks automatically. Treat the score as a signal, not a verdict: scans and print-to-PDF workflows can trigger benign flags.
DocuClipper's fraud detection is included in the 14-day free trial, with no credit card. After the trial it is part of the Business plan, $159/month for 640 pages billed monthly. Photos and screenshots get only the balance check, since PDF metadata checks don't apply to images.
Each statement starts at 100 and each signal subtracts points weighted by its confidence. 90 to 100: appears authentic. 70 to 89: minor concerns. 50 to 69: moderate risk. Below 50: high risk of fraud. Review the individual signals before deciding.
Forensic accountants, financial crime and fraud teams, bankruptcy and restructuring professionals, expert witnesses, family law practitioners analyzing lifestyle spend, transaction advisory and M&A diligence groups, and valuation analysts all use statement analysis to verify authenticity and spot tampering before relying on figures in reports or testimony.
