API-Only Accounts for Developers

Create a DocuClipper API account to convert bank statements from your own software: free test key on sample statements, 50 free live pages with a card, then the $199/month API plan.

Last updated

An API account is for developers who want DocuClipper's bank statement conversion inside their own product, script or agent, and do not need the DocuClipper web app. You get API keys, a free sandbox, usage and billing in one place: your DocuClipper developer console.

Already on a DocuClipper web plan? You do not need an API account. Every web plan includes API access, and API conversions count against your plan's pages. Generate a key as described in API Access: Personal Access Tokens.

Create an API account

  1. Go to docuclipper.com/signup/?product=api. The form reads Create Your API Account.
  2. Sign up with Google, Microsoft or your email address.
  3. You land in your developer console (/app/developer). Create a test key there and copy it.

What an API account includes

  • A free test key (starts with dcp_test_) that works without limits on our sample bank statements and uses no pages. See Test the API Free with a Sandbox Key.
  • 50 free live pages on your own statements once a card is on file.
  • Live keys (start with dcp_) for your own statements.
  • Usage and billing for the API plan: $199 a month with 2,000 pages included, then $0.10 per page.
  • Every statement result comes with a verification verdict for each statement period: verified, needs_review (with the pages and the difference to check) or unverifiable (with the reason). See Verification.

What an API account does not include

An API account is API only. It does not include the DocuClipper web app (uploading and converting in the browser, projects, reports, QuickBooks and Xero exports) or the ChatGPT and Claude connector. If your team wants those as well, choose a web plan instead: it includes the web app, the connector and API access, all counted against the same page allowance.

From test key to production

  1. Build against the sample statements with your test key. Every read endpoint answers the same way it will in production.
  2. Add a card in your developer console. You get 50 free live pages, one free trial per card, and can create a live key.
  3. Swap the test key for a live key and upload your own statements: the quickstart shows both.
  4. When you are ready, start the API plan from your developer console.
